Timing Belt & Wetbelt Replacement Services
Avoid costly engine damage and keep your vehicle running smoothly with our professional belt replacement services. At Brunel Motors, we specialize in timing belt and wetbelt changes for a wide range of vehicles, and we always recommend replacing related components like water pumps and tensioners at the same time for peace of mind.
Timing Belt Replacement
The timing belt (or cambelt) is a critical part of your engine that keeps the crankshaft and camshaft in perfect sync. Over time, these belts wear down, and if they fail, it can cause severe engine damage.
Our service includes:
-
Complete timing belt kit replacement (belt, tensioners, idlers)
-
OEM or equivalent quality parts
-
Water pump replacement (where applicable)
-
Coolant top-up or change
-
Resetting timing with manufacturer-spec tools

When to change?
Most manufacturers recommend replacement every 5 years or 60,000–100,000 miles, depending on the engine. Ask us if you’re not sure about your vehicle.

Wetbelt Replacement (In-Oil Timing Belts)
Many modern engines now use “wetbelts” – timing belts that run inside the engine oil. While quieter and more efficient, these belts are more prone to degradation and can break down faster if oil changes are missed or the wrong oil is used.
Common vehicles using wetbelts include:
-
Ford 1.0 EcoBoost
-
PSA 1.2 PureTech
-
Vauxhall 1.2/1.4 Turbo variants
Our wetbelt service includes:
-
Wetbelt and tensioner replacement
-
Oil and filter change using manufacturer-approved oil
-
Optional sump removal and screen inspection/cleaning
-
Water pump replacement (if applicable)
We also inspect and clean:
-
Internal oil filter screens and pickup pipes
-
Debris from degraded belts that may restrict oil flow
Water Pump Replacement
The water pump is often driven by the timing belt, and failure can cause overheating and belt damage. We strongly recommend changing the water pump during any belt replacement job.
Included in our service (where applicable):
-
New water pump and gasket/sealant
-
Coolant flush and refill
-
Leak testing and system bleed

Sump Removal & Oil Pickup Screen Cleaning
In vehicles with internal belt drive (wetbelts), degraded belts can release rubber debris into the oil. If left untreated, this can block the oil pickup screen and cause low oil pressure or turbocharger failure.
If required, we offer:
-
Sump removal
-
Full cleaning of oil pickup pipe and screen
-
New sump sealant and bolts (if needed)
-
Oil and filter replacement
We recommend this service especially for:
-
EcoBoost engines
-
Vehicles showing oil pressure faults
-
Cars beyond 6 years or 70,000+ miles on original wetbelts
